PREVENTION OF OCCUPATIONAL RISKS BASIC COURSE (30H)
In November 1995, Law 31/1995 on the prevention of occupational risks was published in Spain. Since then, a number of regulatory standards have been published which have facilitated their development and practical application.
This new normative framework introduces a new preventive culture, a concept virtually unknown until then in our country. It is true that there was extensive legislation to protect workers who suffered injury, whether an accident or illness, as a result of their work. However, under the Prevention of Occupational Risks Act, this protection is considered insufficient; the primary objective is to prevent, that is to say, to prevent workers from being harmed as a result of their work.
Within this new regulatory framework a whole series of concepts, rights, obligations and needs are born which we will review in this course, with the aim that at the end, the student is able to carry out in conditions the functions that the current legislation assigns to Technicians of Basic Level in Prevention of Occupational Risks:
a) Promote safe behaviour and encourage the interest and cooperation of working people in preventive action.
b) Promote basic preventive actions and monitor and control them.
c) Carry out basic risk assessments and, where appropriate, establish preventive measures.
d) To assist in the assessment and control of general and specific risks of the company, by carrying out visits, taking into account complaints and suggestions, recording data and other similar functions as may be necessary.
e) Act in case of emergency and first aid, managing the first interventions to this effect.
f) Cooperate with prevention services, as appropriate.
Royal Decree 39/1997 of 17 January approving the Regulation on Prevention Services stipulates that the minimum content of the training programme for the performance of basic level functions shall be a minimum of 30 hours.
The module on specific risks and their prevention in the sector corresponding to the activity of the firm. will last no more than 5 hours.
